All major plasma manufacturers state their plasma television will last 60,000 hours before they go to half-brightness (same rate as LCD televisions and CRTs)
The other burn-in problems do not exactly apply anymore, and despite many rumors plasmas do not need to be recharged.
I have the Samsung 5064, and I guarentee you won't regret your purchase.

from what i gather, the average lifespan of a plasma is 30,000 hours.
don't know about quality, however.
