my earlier question was asking about the earth being 5,000 years old?

When Adam sinned, he allowed sin to enter into this world thus allowing Satan to become god of this world.

When you say, "Why does God let all this stuff happen?", you should realize that we have to allow God to be the God of our lives in order for us to have dominion over the things of this earth.

Of all the ones that you can call the one and only true God, the one you need to know is only known when you get to know Jesus (HIs only begotten Son) who died for your sins.

Concerning timetables, God has set man on his own timetable. However, keep this in mind--God is not only a God of mercy, He is a God of justice as well.

If we go back to the days of Noah, people made fun of Noah because he kept warning them that God was going to flood the earth.

They laughed and laughed and laughed until finally, after Noah finished the Ark and the door closed did they realize that Noah wasn't crazy.

To find God's mercy, just ask Him for His mercy. He will gladly give to you what His only begotten Son suffered for so that we could have it. And that was fellowship with him again.

You have to be born again to understand the Word of God. If you are not, you'll never understand His Word nor why Jesus had to be the sacrificial lamb for our sins.

It says in Genesis there was day and night. It is the description of a 24 hour period as we know it. How long God was alone before creation is infinite. God does not "allow" bad things to happen, we with our sinful natures have brought it on ourselves. God also rains on the just as well as the unjust and has blessed many (particularly Americans) beyond measure. Is it an accident that a country that was founded on Christian principle is the most blessed country in the world? I do not think so. Also as to how old the earth is, consider this....if the world were hundreds of millions of years old, and human life is 20 million years old, why has it taken us this long to progress to this level? In the last two hundred years alone, man has figured out heart transplants, automobiles, and trips to the moon....shouldn't we have figured out WAY more than that in 20 million years? Also, at the rate of human reproduction and the earths population which is currently about 1.4% per year x 20 million years, there would be so many people on this earth, we wouldn't have enough oxygen or space to move in. Therefore, it is not mathmatically possible for the world or human life to be that old. In 10,000 bc, the human population is believed to be well under 5 million people. Is it just in the past 12,000 years that people started reproducing frantically? What were they doing for the first 20 million years? We would have far more than 6.6 billion humans on earth if the human race were 20 million years old.

Well, the earth is somewhere between 11-20 billion years old!

The 5,000 years is just the written history of man. No, God does not work with the same time table as man, a thousand years are but a blink of his eye, we surmise. God did not make man to be eternal, from dust thou art & unto dust thou shalt return. God is eternal, he has no beginning & no ending.

God made man with a free will, because we have many times chosen to use our free will for evil, God lets us go our way & suffer the consequences. At our death we will be judged for how we, as individuals, have lived our lives. If man were to live by the Bible, then the evil would stop but God leaves it up to mankind to stop the evil. One day, God will grow disgusted with us & will end it all. There is only one true God & no one knows his name. There are no other Gods before him. The one true God is the one you put before all other things on this earth. The love of God comes before the love of anything else. He is like the wind, you cannot see him but, you can feel him in your heart, if you try.

the bible says a day to God is like a thousand years. not a second. get your facts straight. by the way, God doesn't go by a 24 hourly rotation of the earth to determine his time as a day.

to answer your question about allow bad things to happen. God gave man a free will.

as far as which god is the true God, muslims, christians and jews all worship the same god. the other religions are not religions but cults.

Time is relative.

If God is infinitely old, then can he/she/it/they age? Any finite amount of time is naught compared to infinity. So is time for Him/her/it/them indeterminate?

What does it matter that somebody believes if it doesn't cause harm? Does it matter if there are 1034 gods, or 5? I've never met any of them.

There are as many gods as there are voices in my head. Too many to count.

Is religion not but a creation of the human mind from evolutionary psychology? Necessary for tribes to survive?

In the end, we should worry about current events, not what a bunch of old, dead men wrote centuries and millennia ago. The same people who said the Earth was flat.

He gave you and me free will to decide what we do. We make the right choices and we go to him for eturnity. Follow the wrong choice, you'll be sorry.

The Bible says the wages of sin is death. Its as simple as that. All have sinned and fallen short of the perfection of God.

God loves his creation and gave his son as sacrifice so that we might live forever with him.

The 5,000 year thing was mistakenly formulated 400 years ago. Our knowledge is far better today and I firmly believe that there are no limits to God, both he and his creation are mosr definately older than that!
