The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951)

However, it should be "Klaatu barada nikto." Klaatu is the name of the alien played by Michael Rennie; he gives the instructions to Helen, portrayed by Patricia Neal. She is to say, "Gort, Klaatu barada nikto."

Somewhere, I have a pin I purchased at a science fiction convention. Beneath those words, in smaller letters, it has the translation: "Gort, I've fallen, and I can't get up." *giggle* (Does anyone remember that commercial?)

These words were used as an all-important spell in the comic horror film "Army of Darkness", in which Ashe (Bruce Campbell) messes up the words and awakens the army of the title. A second mangling of the words will open a portal between the demon dimension and the hardware store where Ashe is working.
