Is there a difference between the labret piercing and a lip piercing?

Ive been doing lots of research about different kinds of piercings, and i dont understand the difference between a labret piercing and a lip piercing. I asked some friends and they said that the dip between your chin and lip is the labret, but isnt that the lowbret?

I found some pictures, but I cannot explain them. Maybe they'll help.

    Its very debatable.

Most will say theres no difference. Others say a lip piercing has a ring, a labret uses a labret stud.

Myself, I classify my piercings, snakebites, as a labret. They dont go through my lip, so how are they lip piercings? Just my logic. But if they are low enough down, they will be usually called lowbrets.

Theres not a big difference. Lip usually goes through your lip, labret stud ithat doesnt go through your lip.

    just my logic

Theres not really a huge difference. Lip piercings are usually higher (closer to your lip) and worn with a hoop. Labrets are usually lower and worn with a stud. I call mine a labret but I asked my piercer to pierce it higher up. I wear a stud in it but I can put a hoop in it if I feel like it (labrets are typically too low to put a hoop in). Its really a matter of personal taste. If you want it lower or closer to your lip.

Yes, the labret peircing is stupider. And looks like you're trying too hard.
