Any interior desingers out there? Please help?

I am fixing to do some remodeling to my house and I cant decide what colors to paint my living room and kitchen. Its an open space. Ive gone to look at color samples at lowes and home depot but I am soo clueless as to what would look good. I dont want colors to clash with one another. Living room has cathedral ceiling with wood beams that have been painted. Looks like I would have strip paint off of them. Also will be putting in hardwood floors. medium color like chestnut. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Since it's an open space, use a light skin-tone as your primary color to paint all common walls - like "flan" by sherwin williams.

then, if you would like to paint features in each room the cabinet walls in your kitchen "afterglow" and one wall in your living room "hyacinth tint."

All of these colors will coordinate well with each other, I swear. Check it out:

Sometimes it is hard to visualize from a small store color sample. Try looking through some magazines at Home Depot or Lowes to find pictures of rooms that you like the feel of. Think of colors that you love or that you have seen in other places that you love. Don't woory about light or dark colors, they both have their strong points. Light is bright and open and might feel cleaner, but dar can be rich and elegant and give your space a sense if intimacy and coziness. Warm colors in kitchens are always nice. They are friendly and welcoming. Maybe a rich warm red if you are a little daring, but don't underestimate a great rusty/pumpkiny orange, especially with the wood. Mustard gold colors are always good as well. Whether you do cool colors or warm colors, it is a safe bet to stay in the same color family for your two open rooms, maybe different shades of the same color. Look at some pictures and you'll find something you like. Don't be scared of a little color either, it is amazing how it can effect your mood. It is fun. Good luck!

First off, if you have a natural wood beam across the ceiling, I would remove the paint and stain it to match the flooring you're putting in. It'll complement it and tie it all in. With wood flooring, you want to go with a lighter color of paint suck as an eggshell or off-white. Either way, keep it a light color or it will make the room look very small and dark. Good luck on the remodel

I suggest going to the paint store and picking three colors that you really like. Take along any linens, etc that you want to match to help in picking the colors. If sample bottles of the colors are not available, buy a quart of each. Take a sheet of posterboard and paint on of each color on a third of it. Once they are dry cut them apart and tape them up on the wall. Look at them at different times of the day because the light in the room will change at different times. Also, do you have alot of natural light in the room? What direction is it coming from? Morth? South? East? West? North/South light is pretty even all day. North light can makes colors look gray. Cool colors are better in southern light and warm colors in northern light. East light is intense in the morning and West light is intense in the afternoon. This intense light will make your colors look more intense so you might want to stay away from brights unless you want the room to glow with whatever color you choose. Have fun!! :)

depending on the size of the area,,,fich reds/golds/mustards/ are nice. Don't do anything that id cream, clashig with the wood would be horrible. You can go to Behr.com and use the sample room decor they have. Find a room that closely resmbles your and paint away.

What color is your couch, and other like curtains? The wood is fine and will work with any color you wont. What your color need to match is the other things in the room.
