Question: 2005 VW Jetta (TDI) Brake lights?

My lady friend has a '05 Jetta and her break light seems to burn out at about 10,000 miles. She has lost the Left (drivers side) twice and now the Right side has gone.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I have inspected several VW Jetta and it seem to be a problem, try getting some high quality bulbs and if that don't solve the problem you may have a loose ground so check the ground wires at the tail light bulbs wiring. God Bless

Well thts a majow problem in jetta's. First of all i would advice tht never again buy a jetta in ur life. Well the problem seems with the wiring. Ask her if she gets it repaired at the original showroom or at a machenic. If she does at a machenic thn advice her to go to the showroom coz they do it the best. If still it continues thn get the wirings changed at an istance. It would be safe to get it checked at the showroom before the curent blows off half the circuit of ur car.

you need to make sure that you are using VW bulbs only i dont know why it is but VW cars require vw bulbs and vw parts i have seen this before i work for a vw/hyundai dealer and we were out of the vw bulb so the parts guy gave me a bulb that was the same but made to hyundai specs and i installed it and the car came back with the same bulb burnt out again very shortly i have seen this with customers that install aftermarket bulbs too they have a different internal configeration and vw cars just dont like them. VW say in there commercials and other adds that VWs like vw parts its not only a sales pitch but its the truth so i would definetly make sure you are using VW parts. sounds crazy but true. if you are using VW parts then sounds like you might have a gnd issue.
