ALL PARENTS OF TEENAGERS ANSWERS THIS QUESTIONS plzzz?

i am 15 and i want weights for christmas.

i dont want just big arms and to me a goun.

i am far from it and have no reason to be one.

the main reason i want one is to start strenght training.

and if one of your teenagers asked you for them for christmas

what would be your reply and points on why

    I would encourage my children in all their interests. If you think your parents will say no, do some research first so they know you have studied how to do weight lifting the healthy way for your age. Also ask you gym teacher for his or her endorsement.

    If one of my teenagers asked for weights for Christmas (they asked for their birthdays...same dif), I'd say the same thing I told them. Have the coach @ school (or whomever is in charge of "weightlifting") give me a call or email me or set-up an appointment for me to come in and talk this over. Which is exactly what the coach did. That way my sons took the full responsibility. (I personally thought the "coach" would tell them no way...was I surprised!)

    I had an expert opinion that way and someone they could go to for questions, etc, right @ school. He also was very strict with the boys about their limits, as they were only in Jr. High @ the time.

    Now my daughter even lifts weights! Not for the same reason as my sons, of course, and MUCH lighter weights. It has given her much more upper-body strength that she uses in cheer leading.

    I also verified everything with personal trainers @ my gym.

    You aren't even a parent if you would try to deter your child from asking for weights for christmas. That is simply dumb. Would they rather you join the Little Debbie Fan Club or something? Oh, they are afraid you will stunt your growth or something. I started doing serious weight training when I was a freshman in high school and I'm about 6'1" 250 now.

    hey i started lifting when i was 16 and i still do it 4 times a week...and i am just about one of the better looking guys my age because of it...

    if my son asked for wieghts, i might try to reason with him on actually getting a health club membership, only because it will give him the ability to have all the types of benches and wieghts he could ever need...but yeah, i would buy him wieghts, no problem....

    and btw...though i love to lift, i am far from some dumb goun, it takes a lot more to be a goun, than just the desire to be strong and look good.

    I probably wouldn't have much of a reply, I would stay quiet about it, and go buy it for them for Christmas. I found your age very difficult to buy for, so any hints were helpful. I see no reason why your parents wouldn't buy weights for you, it's sounds like a logical gift for someone your age.

    I would just get you a gym membership.

    Weights are a pain, hard to find a good place to keep them when not in use and if you trip over them you could be hurting a lot!

    Go for it but make sure you study the effects of weight training at a young age and maybe invest in a trainer.

    enable me inform you, i'm no longer your mom as you comprehend that. So, if I have been you to talk your discern, what's you like for Christmas? i think of, you're 15 rather super age to start focusing on your wellness. that's best for you on your wellness.

    That's a wonderful gift. Who wouldn't want their child to be healthy? If your parents are balking it must be that they have some preconcieved notions about people who lift weights and that's really too bad. Keeping fit is important for good health.

    Weights are a good thing to ask for. However, I would urge you to join your local recreation center when you can get good direction and advice from a professional.
