Perhaps the cashier thought you were 18, or they were just automatically programmed to ask every single customer if they wanted to open an account.

You can't get a credit card at 13, anyway.

If you are still current, they will probably be reluctant to make a settlement. If you can make some payment, they may offer to freeze the accounts (ask about an interest freeze) and lower the payments. If they make this offer, get it in writing along with the agreement not to report the account as past due (as long as you make the agreed upon payment) - while this does not get you out of owing, it does save your credit. Otherwise, the cards will probably wait until you have stopped making payments and ruined your credit before willing to discuss a settlement.

The employees do not make a decision based on how you look (which would be illegal because it would discriminate based on race or gender). Either they either offer the cards randomly or a computer decides. If the computer decides, it decides based solely on factors such as how much was purchased, what was purchased, and how the customer paid (cash, check, or major credit card).

Just because you (or your dog) are OFFERED a credit card does not mean you will qualify and get one. If you would have said yes, they would have gone through a short approval process, at which time they would have determined you did not qualify (reason #1 being age) and you would have been denied.

credit cards are all about money for those that are offering them. and they will go to great lengths to get that money. even offer a card to a 13 year old kid.

Someone who knows that kids from 12-17 have a large amount of disposable income to spend on crap.

i have heard stories of people getting there dogs credit cards. i also have heard of people getting cards for there babies. so 13 i can see it. but it is wrong and should not happen. unless your parents are rich. becouse if not then you will mess your credit all up.
