When someone e-mails a picture to me, it opens in Word. Is there a way to change the default picture opener?
They always end up in some sort of encoding that Word doesn't recognize, and so all I get are a mismesh of boxes and letters.

Save the file on your desktop. Minimize everything and right-click on the image file. Select 'Open With' -> 'Choose Program'. This will bring up a list of all the applications on your workstation.
Select the application you always want to use for this file type (Windows Picture and Fax Viewer perhaps...), and check the 'Always use this selected program to open this kind of file' check box.
