4.3 Chevy Vortec timing question?
I have a 4.3 in my sand rail with an aftermarket Haltec computer and an MSD ignition including an aftermarket MSD distributor.
In a stock situation the computer would set the timing, but with my MSD distributor I have to set it, what would be the proper setting and at what RPM?

I don't think the 4.3 was ever produced with a manually set distributor. You may try a standard setting of 6-8 degs BTDC @ idle [~850 rpm]. If it pings under load, turn down the timing.
