low hip to waist ratio equals high iq?

Have any of you heard about the study that researched the coorrelation between hip to waist ratio and intelligence? The findings explained that women with hourglass figures have omega fatty acids around their hips, which makes them smarter as well as their offspring. The media is having a ball with this, but I find it deeply upsetting. I think this study is sexist and is just one more reason for women to hate their bodies. I'd like to see a study that coorelates men's reproductive organ length to width ratio with intelligence. What do you guys think about this study in general?

I read the abstract you posted, but I can't find the full article in pubmed. It says it's still in press, maybe it's just not up yet.

Be very careful of studies that just examine correlations. From the abstract you can't really tell if there is direct evidence that one CAUSES the other. The authors apparently just went into that database and mined it for some information, and then did a bunch of calculations to come up with this relationship. But they didn't do any experiments, where one might try to manipulate W:H ratio to produce altered IQ. Of course, you can't really do that in humans....

I'd read the whole article to see exactly what they did before putting a stamp of approval on this one. Just because something gets into a journal doesn't mean that it's good science. There's a lot of garbage that gets published out there, especially in obscure journals like this one. Put in a few buzzwords like "big hips" and "intelligence," and leak it to some reporter, and you've got a spotlight for a little while.

That's ridiculous! Next they'll say the color of a woman's hair determines how intelligent they are. I do find that sexist and just plain stupid. Some of the smartest women in history have been large! I totally agree with you. With all the stuff circulating in the media it's a wonder that every women in America hasn't gone anorexic yet. I think people need to stop focusing on waist size and starting thinking that maybe there's more to life than being small. Hahahaha, they should do that study for males. See how men feel about it.
