Having some trouble with my PC?
I cant seem to get my mic to work, I think its a symptom another problem I'm having. After doing a general clean up of my system, windows decided to uninstall my DVD drivers (also not helpful) and my sound controlls.
Can anyone suggest how I can get my mic sorted and/or how to install these wondows components without having to reinstall all my games, back up my games and music and such.

if u uninstall a driver...(usually XP) keeps the driver files in the system32 folder...if u go to control pannel and use the add new hardware wizard windows will install the drivers by finding the files that are allready on your computer...if it does not work siply use the cd that came with the PC...there you will find the sound driver kit and install it....for the DVD a generic driver is allways working so u donn't need any special files for it.

so u wiped it? and no drivers?
if its a dell / acer / hp . go makers site download the drivers..

if u don't know, will tell u soundcard, just google it.. get the drivers
press windows key + break > hardware > device manager
will tell you whats missing , driver wise.
to enable ur mic > accessories > entertainment > sound level
> switch it to recording properties, instead of playback, select mic on..
