Why is my child NEVER sick??
My daughter is almost 8 years old now. She has been sick 3 times in her ENTIRE life. The last time was 3 years ago! And I am talking about just normal sick. She hasn't even had a sniffle in 3 years. And those other 3 times that she was sick were nothing big. I am thrilled...but at the same time want to know how that is possible? Is there a name for it? Does she have some kind of superhuman immune system? She is a very typical 7 year old that just about never washes her hands unless you are standing over her. Any ideas?
For the ones that keep telling me to shut up and I should be happy, please actually read the question. I stated I am thrilled...just want to know why

I am also rarely sick.
I ended up with MONO as a freshman.
Just be careful. I'd rather have the occasional flu than MONO again.

Well I don't think there's a name for it and I don't think it's some superhuman immune system but I would say she's just healthy.
I know people who haven't been sick in probably 10 years. My mom used to work at a hospital and surprisingly only got sick maybe twice the entire 15+ years she worked there even though she was around germy people all day.
Keep up the good work..sounds like she has a good diet.

HER immune system is just working really great. You need to say a prayer everynight. I was just adding up my medical expenses for the year and my insurance company has payed out nearly $30,000.00 on my child alone. And she has no major health issues. Allergies is really the only thing but that is enough.
I understand you are thrilled and not complaing just asking why. SHe is just very healthy and a really good immune system.

I think that, like me, you weren't super over protective about germs!! i think that all these moms who are germophobes are actually hurting their kids in the long run. Sounds like maybe she's been exposed to small enough doses of viruses to buid her immunity. I also have a 6 year old who has never been sick. Don't get me wrong...there are certain things that need to be sanitized but when you place your kid in a sterile environment constantly and then expose them to the real world their bodies will encounter foreign germs that will make them sick because they have not built the immunity needed to fight off that germ!!! Did you breast -feed?? Many studies also suggest that breastfed babies receive antibodies from mothers milk that formula fed babues do not and are therefore less likely to be sick. (I breastfed mine for 18 months) Just some of my theories!!!

Maybe you and the school are feeding her healthy foods to help her immune system to fight off normal child illnesses. She is a tough cookie. Be glad. I work with alot of people who have sick kids all the time.

Just keep her as healthy as you can. she might get very sick soon. because she's ever gotten a bad flu or anything so her immune system might not be prepared for it. Vitamin C is recommended. if I'm wrong than she's just got a great immune system, so she is very lucky and so are you. hope all is well.

You are so lucky!
She may have a year that she get sick all the time. That happend to my son...he was NEVER sick until he turned 4, then it was non stop for a full year. Now he just gets stuff every so often. My Dr. said that is normal.

No offence but why complain. My girls are in daycare now and sence the end of August the have only been healthy for 4 days- every other days is filled with colds, runny noses, coughs, etc. Anyways if you think that there is something very wrong- ask you dr. You could check out her "symptoms" on www.webmd.com, it is a reliable site, FREE and dr.s can respond o your questions. Good Luck

She has a really good immune system and is very lucky and I wish I was like that

Does she socialize with others? That is generally when kids get sick. My kids first week of school = guaranteed cough.
If the child is home schooled, then chances are she may get less illnesses.
