A dog named Shoestring?

Has anybody read a book with a dog named Shoestring in it.?  If so, could you give me the title and/or author.  I think it was a kids' book published, probably in the 1940's.

Could the dog have been named after his owner? Because I found a book called "Jimmy Shoestring"; it's a children's book about a boy and his dog. The author is Marion Le Bron and the book was originally published in 1931.
