What do you think of the lack of success in the last year among US tennis players, both male and female?

The competition from players coming from other countries has grown a lot. Especially the talent from Russia and Serbia-Montenegro. Right now, the U.S. players are lacking confidence and can't stay completely healthy long enough to compete at their best. Not to mention, the young crop of U.S. players is full of potential, but they aren't progressing the way they should, so of course it hurts our country. The U.S. is becoming a lot less noticeable in tennis and it's time for our younger players to fulfill their potential and put the U.S. back on the map.

Male gamers (i had a annoying time with this one): a million. MARIO ANCIC 2. Marat Safin 3. Feliciano Lopez 4. Richard Gasquet 5. James Blake/Janko Tipsarevic lady gamers: a million. MARIA SHARAPOVA 2. Anna Chakvetadze 3. Ana Ivanovic 4 and 5 will bypass to any of right here - Daniela H., Nicole V., Elena Vesnina, or Maria ok. Edit: LOL yeah, Marat Safin... he's merely approximately forgotten.

Well obviously foreign players are getting better, but I think we also have to take into account Federer on the men's side and on the women's side health and motivation. As you know, Roddick probably would have won at least 3 more Grand Slams had Federer not been around. This year, he was in Federer's side of the draw at Wimbledon, Flushing Meadows, etc. so obviously he wasn't going to be able to win. On the women's side, I think Serena and Venus are still the top 2 players in the world if they stay healthy and motivated. Yes, Henin does deserve some merit too but it's been shown in the past that she can't beat the sisters (outside of clay) when they're at their best.

Lack of success? Roddick and Blake were both ranked int he top 10 for most of the year, and Serena and Venus each won a grand slam this year. What more do you want?

US players are good but not too good comparing to the Russians and Spanish.

Roddick is done .Blake and the Williams are not consistent.
