Of course not. Fear is used as a method of control, with one clear aim. When an emotional reaction like fear is especially strong, it can completely overwhelm our reasoning process. Moreover, fear can interfere with reason in the presence of an imminent threat..If leaders exploit public fears to herd people in directions they might not otherwise choose, then fear itself can quickly become a self-perpetuating and freewheeling force that *drains national will and weakens national character*,Many world leaders rule their nations by manipulating some type of fear. Some leaders rule by making their citizens fear them for being tyrants. Others control their citizens by creating an outside enemy from which they vow to protect their people. This enemy is sometimes used to create allies as well. The enemy can take many forms; it could be another leader (foreign or domestic), an ideology, a group of people, or a particular culture. Fear of this enemy would cause the people to rely on their leaders for protection, thus giving their leaders more power over their lives... and they are winning.

Chicken little ran around screaming the sky is falling, fear is big business,a little while back there was fear of a flu pandemic stirred up by this TV movie where 3/4 of the population dies in a few weeks and they cited stats from the 1919 Spanish flu. There are just two things wrong with that, back in those days people went into work sick or not my gramps never missed a day in 40 years you went in if you were dying second point is the only reason it was called the Spanish flu is because Spain was the only country that printed the story of the outbreak, since WW1 had just ended Countries were keeping it Secret in the interests of national security so no one had any warning this flu came from nowhere and no medical people had any information on this godawfull plague

Its all smoke and mirrors and our population has increased so much over the last 50 years that when we hear numbers like 125 murders in a city we are shocked .
A crime wave must have hit the city .
Truth is ,crime, is about the same historical figures its always been at ,less then 1% of people commit crimes .
You know that only .0001% of americans have been killed by terrorists and that more people are killed each year taking the wrong medication from errors in filling them properly .

There is definitely a lot of validity to your question/observation. I think the constant drumming of fear, fear, fear into our collective heads DOES have an effect on a big portion of our country. Some people simply don't care until something catastrophic happens, while others worry night after night about what "could" happen next.

some may already be.I am on about the ones born in the 40s 50s & 60s.The politicians will not know whats hit them.We should all stick together.I do not worry about the loonies who hate us theres no point when ever they try to blow us up it will make brits turn we are not called the sleeping lion for nothing.
One day we will turn & they will run.

No it's not "right". However you are operating under the assumption that no one is able to think for themselves. I'm okay with warnings; I'm NOT okay with much beyond that. I have the liberty to do what I choose with whatever information I learn/obtain. I personally don't believe I am subjugated. I know there are many out there who believe they are, though.

I do not see this government as anything more than a bunch of political bullies. And they need to be whipped into shape by the people of the UK. And I know that this can be done....but not necessarily at the polling station/s.

In a capitalistic democracy, both the government and the media are slaves to what the people respond too. The blame can always be traced back to the idiot public. Only when people stop buying newspapers, tuning in to news broadcasts, and voting for politicians who farm fear will the fear farming stop.
Source(s): Lots of experience living in this nation of idiots
