why do people care so much about video game graphics?

It's like watching a movie, a lot of people go for special effects. You may like the game, but the graphics make it that much better.

I guess it is because people like to see really great things explode and all this other stuff. Most people are turned down by games, believe it or not, by looking at the back cover. If the cover doesn't have good graphics they say, meh nope I won't buy it. That's a true fact. I reckon a Video game should be 45% good graphics and 55% good gameplay.

I do value gameplay more then graphics, but now thanks to all the new technology like HD tv's, overclocked systems, etc. :) games with good graphics add value to my investment on these things. So its a good side bonus to me, sure I like seeing pretty graphics with Halo 3 , CoD4, etc but I always sit down and play a game with bootleg graphics like Civilizations or a Diablo-like game when I can ^.^.

those who care in difficulty-free words about pictures are stupid. pictures regardless of the reality that are positive because it helps immerse your self interior the international (now to not indicate video games with out pictures might want to be in basic terms textual content base) and not to point makes each and every thing look nicer. yet yeah, there are a variety of of who do not care if the images are subpar so long because the gameplay is nice and it has a good tale. regrettably there are those who do not care how good the tale might want to be if it don't have good pictures. i have met those who declare FF7 sucks in basic terms for the images now are junk.

I come from gaming's infancy. Played Pong, then Pac-Man and so on and so forth.

I still play Ultima Online, and if anyone has seen or played that game, they know the graphics are..... old. I agree with you all, how fun the game is decides if I play it or not. Graphics are down the list on my priorities.
