Advancement exams, what the heck is up with ????
I am so tired of DH always gettin PNA ! Because of quotas, its such bull ! Then supposedly, they say more points for going IA ! They say, first pick if on IA billet, yeah right ! DH has taken both exams this yr and still like always PNA ! Ok quotas, is it for whole branch or quota for ur personal command ? DH so deserves it, works hard for it, and wants it, why not ??? UGH !

Who the hell is DH, and why does he/she deserve to be promoted? If DH wants to be promoted bad enough, he/she needs to study a little bit harder, and maybe actually study what is in the bibliography. That's what the bibs are there for, to study so that one may score high enough on the advancement exam to make rate and not just PNA.
I took the E-5 exam 5 times before I made it, and E-6 3 times before I made it.

Go to a small ship, work hard, volunteer for many collateral duties and get in good with the CPO mess. Then put in for a command advancement. CPO mess is usually the ones who decide who gets capped.

Same thing I tell my kids. Study harder. And more....my youngest has a slight learning disability, he gets told the same thing..study harder, study more...
