Abandoned Car in NJ?
I rent a condo in NJ. I have my old car parked in the visitor's lot at my building on private property. The registration has lapsed, but it is not in use. The management company called me and informed me that the police had tagged it as abandoned. I informed her that it most assuredly was not abandoned and I was seeking a buyer for the car. I contacted the police, and they informed me that they would not and could not sticker a car as abandoned on private property unless requested to do so by the property owner.
As far as I can tell, I was not in violation of any of the rules for the development. Now I've found that the car has been taken. What is my recourse here? I had a buyer lined up, but now have had to tell them that the car is unavailable at this time. If the car was taken without permission, is that theft? Is the property owner liable for damages?

Call your local code enforcement office to ask about what happens to abandonned vehicles in your area.

You rent so I am going to assume you never read the by laws of your condo association. I am pretty confident they are in the right considering they notified you of what they were going to do before they did it. They have alot of power when it comes to these kinds of situations. For them it is all about the condo owners as a whole rather than just you. But you already know that.
Get your car back from where ever it is asap or you are going to lose it for storage fees and towing charges.

read your lease agreement- I remember when I rented an apartment in the lease I could only have cars that were properly registered and lnsured parked in their lot. otherwise they would be considered abandoned. they then have the right to have them removed. i was living in NJ at that time (Montague)

circulate to the sheriffs dept interior the county and communicate with somebody/if he has a license you may take him to small claims courtroom for fifty dollars and declare as much as 10k loss/you may fill out criticism in county courthouse and you rep your self with the invoice of sale and declare 10 in line with day storage/stuff will start to go
