Threw up 2 hrs after taking my birth control pill?

I've always heard that if you vomit within 2 hours of taking your pill for the day, you should take a replacement.

So, I wasn't feeling well since I woke up this morning, I take my pill at 4pm every day, and I threw up about 6:05 pm. Would you take another pill? And if I do, that will mean I'll run out of pills one day earlier than normal. Would that be alright? And would I just start my next pack a day earlier than usual too?

I've been on the pill for about 6 months, first time I've ever puked while on it. I'm always religiously regular about taking it at 4pm. I am one week into this pack of pills.

Thanks in advance for your help :)

Update:

Heh, if it was during business hours I *would* call my doctor. But I'd like some advice now in case I should do something about it tonight.

Take a replacement, and you should talk to your doctor soon and get a back-up pack in line. Many women keep an extra month's worth of pills to replace any that are lost down the sink, vomited up, or whatever. That way, if you lose one you just take one from the back-up pack and it doesn't effect the rest of your month.

I do, and it's saved me from a lot of stress in situations like yours.

If you still have the package insert with all the information about the particular pill you're taking, read it and it will have specific instructions on what to do for a missed pill. If you don't have it, I'd just take another pill and call your doctor as soon as possible.

Take another pill, better to be on the safe side. Sounds like you've got a bug rather than a side-effect to the pill. So if you're sick again don't take any more pills until your next one tomorrow, then carry on as normal on the daily dose and use alternative form of contraception for at least a week (or whatever the instructions recommend). You'll finish the pack a day earlier than normal, but that's fine, just start the next pack a day earlier to keep on track. If you have any concerns speak to your GP, FP clinic, and don't take any chances unless you can afford to!

I would recommend not taking another pill and to talk to your doctor to see what they say.

For helping with the vomitting that you get when you take the pill at 4 p.m. I would recommend eating something at the time you take the pill to see if that helps get rid of this vomitting but please let your doctor know about this vomitting you notice. They will be able to help you figure out if maybe you may need to change brands as a way to ease this vomitting.

What kind of BC, I know that my orthro had a small packet in it that said if you X colored pill then you are/are not at risk. However if you took the pill at 9:30 and threw up at 4:00am you did not throw up the pill. It was already in your system, no worries.

Yes you can take another pill now and carry on as you suggesr above, otherwise you will need to start again tomorrow and take precautions for 14 days.

call your pharmacist as soon as you reasonably can, s/he will be able to give you advice based on the actual pill you are taking etc.

But you are correct in thinking that you might need to take another pill.

im no expert in birth control but in general i would sugest not to take another since this may lead to a more permanent effect and then you'll be sorry if you decide you want a kid, my advice would be to stop sex for a few days and start again tomorow
