Dark brown hair what color highlights?
My hair is naturally dark brown and it still is. And when I say dark brown I DO NOT mean almost black because it is nowhere near black. Anyways, my eyes are light brown/dark brown they change occasionally, and I also have fair light skin. I am going to get highlights but Im not sure about what color to go? I don't want to get blonde because that would be too drastic of a change, BUT I still want to change.. if that makes any sense? So I was thinking a caramel color or light brown? I really am not sure? Any suggestions, ideas, or help? On something that would look extremely awsome on me! That would be very nice! Please and thank you :)
Yes I am getting them done professionally

Are you going to get your hair done professionally or are you going to do it yourself??
If you are going to a professional, find a picture of something that you would like and you should be good to go! They are a professional and should be able to use colors that work for your hair and skin tone. They will be able to foil your hair which will give you very subtle/natural looking and gorgeous highlights.
Subtle highlights really add demension to the haircolor. Lighter hair, especially around your face is extremely flattering. So I would definitely suggest getting face framing highlights; which can be a lot lighter than the highlights you get on the rest of your head.

This one, it looks like she has peek-a-boo highlights which is where the highlights are under the top layer of your hair and you see them peeking out. These can be very funky and chunky, thicker more drastic highlights or they can be very subtle and natural looking like they are in this pic.

OR
If you are going to do them yourself I would suggest using Herbal Essence Highlights and you can just get the golden blonde one. You can use the hair painting technique and I would just suggest picking sections of your hair and using an old toothbrush or your gloved fingers to apply the color to your hair rather than the comb that comes with the color. I would suggest doing the peek-a-boo highlights that look like the pic in the last link I pasted. To do that, just part your hair how you normally would and then take about a 1/2 inch thick setion from the top of each side and pin them back. Then start picking little pieces (about the width of a pencil?) and put the color on those. If you do the peek-a-boo technique it doesn't have to be perfectly symmetrical on either side because you won't be able to notice. Very easy, almost fool-proof method. I would suggest getting the blonde highlights and then not leaving it on for the full time suggested. These you can also kind of watch and see how light they are getting and gauge when you want to rinse them. I would suggest leaving them on for atleast 15-20 minutes.
I hope this was helpful! Good luck :)

You should go for like a caramel color or like a lighter shade of brown to just give your hair more than one tone.. One thing i find that doesnt look nice in brown hair is blonde, but thats just me :)

Dark brown is cute; however, if you want to highlight it the best choice would be light brown or carmel-ish. make sure it doesn't stand out too much, but also make sure it makes a change in your appearance.

I would go with a light brown do a strand test first to make sure you like it if you do you do and if you don't you could decided to go lighter or a little deeper!

Carmelize it. Nothing near blonde, just shiny highlights to give it color and shine in this harsh winter weather...
