Is the UK Civil Service beyond repair? Does the media get this?
The media keeps slapping MPs, Ministers and Secretaries for departmental c0ckups - but you can't blame them all the time - not for security breaches and the like - Surely It's time somebody started to sack the lifers in cushy civil service roles.
In my experience there are a lot of good hard working peeps across government departments and Ministries but quite frankly they are outnumbered by dead-wood.
Who thinks it's time we stopped handing over our taxes to these numties and the government took on the last bastion of union strength and sacked the lazy and the useless - senior, middle rank and junior civil servants? They work for us but we don't appear to be able to sack them. And yes if we do sack they will go on strike - but hey they are the only ones with a safe job and a safe pension in this land - time they realised they need to earn those benefits.
Or is it really all the fault of Ministers for not overseeing the addressing of every letter and e-mail?
Sorry for your bad lase serendip - FYI i am freelance - every day I take off sick = 0 income.
Every day I take as a holiday = 0 income.
I work for all sorts of clients from commerce and finance to education and yes central government.
I have to say that the laziest bunch of shirkers and political infighting ladder climbing back stabbing vipers will not be found in commercial orgs nor amongst the free-lance worker who has to shine each and every day to maintain his / her contract - it is IME the unsackable Civil servant and the closer to London the less sackable.

I would really like to know what job you do is yours a profession so full of "perfect employees" or are you one of those individuals who does not work but thinks it's ok to criticise others who do
I am a civil servant and have worked conscientiously for my whole service.
I recently became ill and had to leave work they although i only have 2 yrs to go they would not allow me ill health retirement ( even though this was advised by my medical advisors the reason offered was because my it was possible in their opinion for me to get another job "at 58" once I recovered from that illness for which there is no time guaranteed by the medics I have never been on strike in my life.have given 100/% to my paymasters and now feel that I have been shafted so if you think it is such a brilliant job why not get in there.I am sure they would be glad to have someone so brilliant. A safe job - not at all for those who work on the lower grades maybe for the senior CS
I admit not all workers gave 100% but isn't that in all jobs of course it is.I earned £14000 after all those years what valuable job do you do and how much do you get??

I agree with you on all counts.Since Seedy Blair was in charge the word decency has disappeared from the English language and has been replaced with Greed,Sloth and Spin. The Thames Hog Pen is full to overflowing with dead wood as are the associated dep,ts.It would seem that brain cells are in short supply within the so called elite circles. We are all doomed!
