I would go with "laboratory" because it is the PREFERRED spelling. (I generally pronounce the second syllable anyway.)
Many words have more than one spelling and/or more than one pronunciation.
As a journalist (even a broadcaster) I always go with preferred spelling.

It is laboratory everywhere in the English-speaking world, although the inflexion may vary.
Edit- Phlatulent Frog points out the phoneticism of "labratory." This could not happen in the U.K. or Canada because there the second syllable is stressed.

"laboratory" is the only acceptable spelling, "labratory" is a phoneticisation, i.e. spelling the way it's (conventionally) pronounced.

Laboratory is the correct spelling. Maybe the other spelling is American!

I`ve never seen it spelt Labratory...it sounds like how someone would say it who didn`t know the proper spelling or pronunciation.
