I'm not a parent, but I put my 3 year old nephew down for naps. I think if they are cranky, then start the naps again, if not then they are ready to be broke. again, im not a parent, so this is my opinion.

My son is 3 1/2 and he still takes at least an hour nap in the afternoon. We're not as firm about it as we used to be, but he needs it still even though he gets a good night sleep. Some kids just need more sleep than others. Plus, I think he's happier when he's had his nap. But I've also wondered the same thing because I know a lot of kids in his prek don't nap anymore.

My son is 2 and still usually takes a nap. He gets really grumpy in the afternoon if he doesn't sleep for at least an hour after lunch. By bedtime he's impossible. But if he really, really isn't into naptime I don't push the issue. I just accept that it's going to be rough afternoon and plan some activities that will hopefully take his mind off being tired.

It really depends on how well your kids handle staying up all day. If they're not getting really tired in the afternoon and evening, then you can go without the nap. If they're exhausted and grumpy, you need to at least give them a chance to lie down and rest. It's never good to try and force your kids to nap, but it's really unhealthy for them if they're not getting enough sleep. Just watch them really closely later in the day and look for signs that they may be tired. If you don't notice any, then it's fine to continue doing things the way you're doing them.

My DD stopped napping altogether at about 2 , but my DS was 2 1/2 before he stopped napping every day and was 3 before he lost naps totally. It depends on the child.

my daughter is 2 and she still takes a nap everyday and she is in daycare. The daycare is still enforcing the nap time. I think they should continue to get a nap at least until they are 5, that way you get them off a napping schedule before they go into kindergarten. Plus it gives you a chance to regroup and get a break. Thats my opinion. Hope that helps!!!

It really depends on the child. If the child does not get cranky and whiney and just crazy tired then they don't need to take a nap.

they will get tired from time to time and both should get at least a little nap. It is recomended by docters.
