I looked at the Zumo 550, but was concerned about the 'up to' 4 hour battery life, unless you mount wire it to the power system of the motorcycle leaving the cradle mounted to the bike. After talking to Garmin about these issues, I discovered that the real difference between the Zumo and the Nuvi is the Zumo's are waterproof, and a glove friendly interface. As I usually only ride in good weather, I work around the Nuvi waterproof issue with a Ziploc baggie, and as I don't try and change the routing while riding down the road, the interface is not an issue to me. It works quite well, and with good use of the auto off back light, the battery lasts quite well.
Note: After purchasing the 660, I did find a company that offers a tank bag with a mounting point for RAM mount arms. They offer an optional power supply (battery) that will power the Zumo 550, to get around the 4 hour battery life.

I have touch screen Lorance unit that can run for hours when fully charged that I put in the map pocket of my tank bag and it works fine for me. I would think that any tounch screen unit would work although my brother has a bluetooth one that understands voice commands and he says it works fine as long as he has is visor down on his full face helmet so that would be the way I would go if I was to get a new one(his is a tomtom)
