How do I connect a NetGear wireless router?

My problem is that my current dsl is connected to my computer via a usb port out of an RCA broadband box. My netgear router only has ethernet ports. The netgear instructions want me to unplug my internet connection from the back of my computer & plug it in to the netgear router, but there aren't any usb ports in the netgear box. I think the people who setup the original connection, couldn't get the ethernet to work, so they used the usb connection instead. Any ideas?

You can't use the USB modem to connect to your router! Return this modem back to your Internet service provider, and get the traditional modem that comes with Ethernet port.

If not, go ahead to buy the modem with Ethernet port yourself, then will solve your problem.

    Hope helps..

Does your Modem support Ethernet? I'm assuming from your message it does.

Use the instructions in the manual for the router to set your system up.

Your modem should require no changes to switch to Ethernet.

The router should come with an install CD that will make the conversion pretty simple

If you get stuck - come on back

The advantages of putting a router between you and the Internet are worth the work of replacing your USB connection with Ethernet.

Remember that you will need 2 Ethernet PATCH cords, one to hook the router to the Modem and one as a setup connection when you are first setting up the router.

Once you have the router set up and security enabled, then you can go wireless

First your entire configuration is misguided so which you would be getting destructive provider. in no way use greater advantageous than one router on a connection, it slows it down and can reason conflicts which disrupt it or maybe completely provide up it.The router will attempt to deliver your requests out by its' under pressure WAN or DSL port. to no longer the different router. So purchase a USB community card.
