Does anybody else think that Orbitz sucks?
My wife and I had a significant problem with a recent Orbitz booking. On a return trip from Phoenix they had us scheduled on duplicate connecting flights. One flight was no longer in service (not cancelled, NO LONGER IN OPERATION) and the second took off a hour before we arrived on the first leg of the flight. When I contacted Orbitz their response was basically thank you for contacting us, but it's not our problem.
Tried to post a review on Epinions and Trip Advisor but Orbitz is a sponsor and any search on "Orbitz" leads nowhere. I used to have confidence in the Orbitz site, but not any more.
I use kayak.com to compare prices and got to orbitz from there. I usually book directly with the airline after searching fares, but don't recall why I went with Orbitz. Never again.

Yea, most on the on-line sites suck. I'm a travel agent. You can find the same fares that they are offering with the carriers themselves. Lots of times even cheaper. The lowest fare is often found by booking several carriers as one way flights. The only problem with that is, when one is late, and you miss the other carrier's connection, It's hard to get them to accommodate you. It's still alot easier than dealing with the freakin orbitz and cheap ticket companies out there.

Worst online flight booking company ever. Booked a flight leaving at 10:30 am for me and my son and received the itinerary with a flight leaving at 6 am. They put my 7yr old son as the primary on the account and would not speak to me as I was not the primary. Really? I was transferred back into the system over 3 times. The automated system when I called in was choppy and not functioning properly. I had to call several different times just to get the system to work. When I finally got to speak with a representative I was told that the free cancelation did not exist even though it is right on the purchasing page. I was told that to get this resolved they needed to speak to my son and put me back in the phone system. The next person said that he would look into it and then told me that I was a minor according to the computer and could not talk to me that my son (who is 7yr old) was the adult and therefore they needed to talk to him. Well sorry but he is currently in the 2nd grade and in school! I went ahead and canceled this ticked online (see it really is free to do this dumb reps.). I will never use Orbit again!

I have tried Orbitz last year it was fine and I tried again for my coming trip this Sunday to YVR (Vancouver, BC) via Continental Airlines. I found out it is $20.00 cheaper directly to contact the airlines. The same thing for booking hotels, it is cheaper to contact the hotel directly than them. I learned my lesson, on my next trip I will not go to online travel companies.

Well, that's why there are travel agencies. They can beat prices 80% of the time from on-site agencies, like Orbitz, Travelocity, Expedia, etc..
And if you have a problem, like the one you had, they usally can fix it.
Without a travel agent, you are on your own !

travelocity is way worse...TRUST me...i do not fool with those people anymore...besides it is so much cheaper if you go to the airlines themselves!
