Should older guys color or not color?
I barely have any gray at 54. If I was going to color, now would be when to start so nobody notices. Of course in 10 years, everyone will know anyway. What do you think about guys coloring their grey? Vein, silly, or not surrendering to age?

im an apprentice stylist, and i like having a mix of clientele with natural and colored hair... i dont think its vain or silly or not surrendering to age, i think coloring should suit you and your needs... if everyone "surrendered to their age" we would all look like hags in our mid 40's... aweful.. imagine yourself with more and more silvers ...can you pull a george clooney or not? i think for salt and pepper hair to look polished you always need it well groomed or it looks haggard.. you could try coloring with semipermanents, they blend grey in, making it look like a natural hilight rather then making one solid fake looking color. im all about multi dimention... i you want to grow it out but you think you have too much white, try lowlights... theyll break up the large patches of white and give you a blended all over salt and pepper, not a blotchy one. its about what you want... theyre isnt a stigma with haircolor anymore, if you are comfortable with those silvers, then grow em out...if you think they make you look tired and dull, cover em up... whatever makes YOU feel better about yourself...

Personally, I see nothing wrong with it. Just stick to a shade that is at, or near your natural hair color, and you should be fine! BTW, I don't think there are a lot of people who want to surrender to their age. I'm in my mid-thirties, and I certainly don't want to! But, I guess eventually we all will have to give in to our age.
You are only 54. And that is not old by any means, so you still have a very long time left before you have to even begin to worry about those things, like giving in to your age and so on.
In the meantime, if coloring your hair would make you feel better about yourself, then by all means, go for it!
Good luck :-)

I personally like it when many DON'T color. Of course I've always liked older men, lol, so that might have something to do with it. But I think men look great with gray, white, or peppered hair. So if it were up to me I'd say show off your natural color, or color changes, for all they're worth.
