Am I the only West Virginia or Ohio State (I go for WVU) fan in America who thinks we need a playoff?

Right now things look good for WVU pending their last two games, but I would much rather be crown CHAMPIONS, not mythical champions.

You're not afraid of the LSUs, USC's, and all the other top 10 teams are you?

Update:

For your benefit mnteer"fan"

I have been endorsng a playoff all summer/fall. I for one think WVU wins a playoff, because I truely believe they are the best team in the country and I would like there to be no doubt.

I have been actively rooting for WVU since the mid-70's.

Hey Skins Fan, i like the playoff system too but i don't think it's gonna happen because of the bowls alliance with each of the conference. The president for each of the school don't want to mess up the bowl alliance, so we will never see a playoff system in college football. I like to see a true champion not mythical champion.

The current system creates too much controversy. And that's good for college football.

Remember controversy means more press, which means more people become interested, and this ties into more money being made. Plus it lets smaller programs (like Boise and Hawaii) get into the spotlight ever so often.

Why would the NCAA, University presidents and ADs want to get rid of a system that does all that.

While a playoff gets rid of the "doubt" on who the champion will be, I don't think schools will want to lose this Cash cow, and I can guarantee that there will be less money going into schools, and there will be less distribution of money.

Also, a playoff system will just about guarantee only a handful of schools will consistently win the championship. Since recruiting is all about getting a school's name out. Unlike pro-ball, you can't lure a recruit by offering a lucritive contract.

I agree 100% with crzdbuk...above. I'm an LSU fan and look what happened when they won the BCS....it wasn't popular enough so USC (a great team, too) was proclaimed co-champion. And whoever wins this year will not be recognized as the best by a majority of fans. The old days were a lot more fun when there were a number of really good teams that co-existed.

I think the emphasis on the National Championship game whether by polls or playoff is going to ruin college football. Look at basketball, the regular season there is a joke. You just play enough to get to the "dance" and then it just depends on if you get hot for 3 weeks.

Why not just start with week 1 being a playoff week and by time you get to december, you only have 8 teams playing anyway....

It used to be that a Conference Championship meant something, a trip to a bowl game was a reward not another "must win" game. The whole emphasis on NC titles is ruining College football.

we need a playoff like the NFL has. The Top 2 teams of each conference go to the playoffs. The 1st team in the Wild Card of the BCS schools. And the 1st team of the Wild Card of the non-BCS schools. And the Independents go to the Independent conference and The Top 2 teams go to the playoffs. the winner of each conference doesn't play in the first round. but i don't think we'll have a playoff because the bowl games support the smaller schools and they need the money.

We need a playoff this is crap. If I lose at the beginning of the season I can still get a shot at the National Title. If I lose my next to last game like Ohio State youre almost screwed. Its not fair at all. I am by no means an Ohio State fan but that isnt fair. #1 almost the whole season then lose and out. Im a Bama fan Roll Tide. Peace out................

I think we do need a playoff, however the one thing that makes college football so exciting is the fact that the entire season is like a playoff. If you lose you are most likely done, except of course for this year which has just been crazy.

Why you should be set for the BCS game... West Virginia vs Ohio State

A crapload of deserving teams in the NCAA right now. Odds are pretty good that the National Champion will be a champion on paper only.
