    Silicon is solid below 1687K, gas above 3538K, and liquid in between, all at one atmosphere pressure. Look for a phase diagram if you need detail at other pressures. Not all elements can exist in all three states.

    Silicon at STP is a solid substance and, like any other substance it can be melted to a liquid and vaporised to a gas under the required conditions of temperature (addition of Sensible Heat) and, Change of State (addition of Latent Heats of Melting and Vaporisation).
