I just want friends who make me feel like I'm better by knowing them. For instance, I want to be surrounded by people that I can learn from and look up to, honor, appreciate, laugh with, and also feel that special connection with.
I cannot be friends with anyone who makes me feel like less. This includes people who put others down, people with negative attitudes, people who judge and talk ABOUT someone instead of TO someone, people who take advantage, and closed-minded people.

I reckon that we don't actually choose our friends, it all depends on who you meet at a certain time. That then influences what we think of other people and you start to believe that some other people are "bad" or "good" and you don't want to be friends with them.
For example, if you were born a year later or earlier, you would still have friends, but they would be completely different and people you might never have considered in your actual self. Its all about the time, place and the circumstance... The rest of your life follows.

because some people are just obnoxious.
if they mock other people just because they can, or say things that are to me socially unacceptable, how could i be friends with them?

because some friends do bad things and they influence you to do them. others have positive things to do then they influence yo to do it.
