hi! this is for the video experts out there. .?
my system is a Celeron 2.00GHZ with only 512 of DDR. the video is shared, eating some 64MB.
My question: how do I improve on my system to keep skipping some frames? Or what's the least I could do to improve my system without costing arm, leg, neck...
Should I just add an external video card, or buy additional RAM? I think Celeron would do fine on a home video job like this.
Thanks!
BTW, my motherboard doesn't have Firewire. I think getting one should be a good idea.

Sounds like an Windows XP system - am I right?
Buy more RAM.
Be sure that you are not running unneeded programs in the background. There is a very useful little program called EndItAll that "end-tasks" programs that you decide kill - that will free up resources and computing power so that you can minimize skipped frames. Google for enditall...
An external video card wouldnt hurt, either. That would reduce the load on the processor and also help to prevent skipped frames.

You need a video card. Determine what graphics interface your motherboard has and then go to newegg.com to see what's out there that will fit your machine.
.
For less than $100, you can get something that will help tremendously.
.
Firewire will not help.
Adding RAM is always a good idea but will not solve the problem you are reporting . I would another 512 stick just for good measure - see newegg.

The Best Option 1st off is buy a Graphics Card, It don't need to be to flash . i would even recommend a ATI 9250 128mb u can pick them Up for <$50 on ebay , 2nd Get more Ram, Nothing stupid just a 512mb stick, Only bout $50-$60, But For What it sounds like u want I'd just Get the New Graphics Card

buying more ram is a start. the reason why you keep getting skippin frame is cause ur processor which is considered to be really slow is holding u back. im guessing u bought ur computer prebuilt which will make it tough for you to upgradde processor but if you can, try upgradin the processor. otherwise just buy some more ram from newegg.com since they sell stuff for cheap prices and save up for a better computer.

Purchase a dedicated graphics card. Entry level cards can be quite cheap and will offer a substantial improvement over onboard
