You can obtain most of the needed information easily from the OMPF (Official Military Personnel Files) of the National Personnel Records Center (Military Personnel Records). For the most part it is as easy as completing and mailing the Standard Form (SF 180). (link below)
If you are a veteran or next-of-kin of a deceased veteran, you may now use vetrecs.archives.gov to order a copy of your military records. For all others, your request is best made using a Standard Form 180. It includes complete instructions for preparing and submitting requests. Please Note: All requests must be in writing, signed and mailed to us at the address shown below.
Address
National Personnel Records Center
Military Personnel Records
9700 Page Avenue

To get a replacement medal send the same form to this address along with the DD-214 (which you'll need ot have obtained from Records first).
Bureau of Naval Personnel
Liaison Office Room 5409

Im not 100% right about this but there is a web site that names all the CMH [congressional medal of honour winners] and if my memory serves me right you can also find Navy Cross winners there too. My next best bet would be to type in Navy Cross WW1 in your browser and see what pops up. Next i would contact his branch of service im assuming its USMC. Good Luck and god bless your Grandfather hes a good man!

I study the story and the alternative grow to be based on the certainty that he grow to be shot first by potential of friendly fire and then grabbed the grenade and absorbed the blast demise quickly. how many human beings in this u . s . a . stay to tell the story a gun shot wound? So for the armed forces to assert his preliminary harm grow to be the reason for demise could help us understand why different countries hate the u . s .. For the dislike they tutor in addition they get carry of.
