Why were there no terrorists or Al Qaeda in Iraq until we invaded?

    My understanding is the government at that time and president Hussein were opposed to such groups.

    Which is why the logic of the Bush Administration is so flawed. The War on Terrorism to be fought in Iraq? What war strategy genius figured that was a good place to start? Why didn't we stay in Afghanistan and contain the threat. No we to use it as an excuse to go after Iraq. It's an abomination

    Because Al Qaida wants to kill americans for getting involved in middle eastern affairs since the 80's. Bin Laden wanted us to go into Iraq. Americans are much easier targets now.

    Bin Laden hated Saddam and actually wanted to fight against Iraq when they invaded Kuwait.

    How would you like it if someone invaded you country. The constitution was set to protect our country, only if invaded, not to invade other countries.
