Zlob-x.a is a Trojan that distributes IE Defender. Zlob-x.a changes settings and modifies files on your PC. Zlob-x.a can hijack your IE browser and display an error message within your search results in search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN.
Zlob-x.a is able to download and install malicious software into your computer. I suggest you get rid of Zlob-x.a immediately. Try a free removal tool like SmitfraudFix. If this doesn't work, then try something else.

What you have is a trojan which is more akin to spyware than a true virus. Either way you want to get this off of your pc as soon as possible. I recommend a multiple step process that will remove this trojan along with any other malware that might be on your pc. First you will need to download two free programs from www.download.com. They are Spyware Doctor Starter Edition and SuperAntispyware Free Edition. First install then update each program. Then you will need to take your pc off of the internet. Then run complete/full scans with each program. Next do a free online malware scan and removal at Trend Micro Housecall. This will remove this malware from your pc. GUARANTEED 100%

Load AVG, it has a virus scanner and spyware/malware tool you can get for free if you think the pop up you are getting is real. Normally the pop up is part of a program you have already installed. Don't buy anything if it is prompting you... I have had several pop ups that were just advertisements (fake).
In general, download and install a few free tools like adaware, AVG, etc. Or you can use the trial version of Spyware Doctor or Spy Sweeper, and just uninstall it after it kills your trojan if you don't want to buy it.
Source(s): http://forums.techguy.org/malware-removal-hijackth... This link has some very technical answers about your specific trojan - looks like this is a common issue, but not necessarily a virus. Check it out if the suggestions above didn't find and kill the trojan. Good Luck! - Anonymous1 decade ago
It isn't a real virus, and Avast or AVG might find it but can't remove it. It is spyware. One of the answers I read gave you several links for free antispyware. Get Ad-Aware and SpyBot, you'll need them both.

You need a antispyware program to get rid of that trojan. I'm using a few free anti-virus/spyware programs that work very well.
- Avira AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic
-Spybot Search and Destroy

-Ad-Aware Se Personal (helps reduce those ads and etc...)

Yeah the popup itself is spyware.
The antispyware it wants you to download is spyware itself.
Use a antispyware/antivirus software to detect that spyware and remove it.
It's likely not a real trojan but a piece of spyware trying to get you to download more of itself.

it is a virus. a believe it is very lethal in the computer world. Try spybot search and destroy or find common file paths or registry entries for this item.
start > run > regedit
you can delete values there, if it comes back, edit one of the numbers for it to corrupt.

Sounds like something that I had before I got a mac. Basically, save all of your info, then reinstall windows!
Source(s): Oh, and it was adware, not a virus, but try spybot first.. - techchickLv 71 decade ago
