No one knows the effects of a third world war fought with nuclear weapons. We can only speculate. the long-term effects of a nuclear war would be dependent on numerous factors such as the amount and power of the weapons used and where in the world they were dropped. Some areas of the world would have far greater impact on humanity than others.

However, with world population estimated at 6.6 billion (2007) if a nuclear would did ever take place it is stupid to assume that large areas of the world would not survive. The survivors, even if reduced to a primitive state of existence, would regroup and develop. Eventually civilisation, even it it took thousands of years, would rebuild itself.

Think of the devastating effects of the bombs on Japan during the Second World war on both Hiroshima and Nagasaki which killed an estimated 220,000 people and many more from radiation etc. The fact is despite this Japan survived and went on to become an economic superpower. Does anyone really believe such an event would destroy the entire planet - how stupid!

If a nuclear war killed 90% of the world's population the extra 10% would move on. Man, despite all his faults, is an incredibly resourceful animal. He has fought poverty, disease and strife for millions of years. Although the prospect of a nuclear war is something never before encountered if would not be the end. Perhaps even a new beginning of evolutionary development?

Sounds like a quote from one of the nuclear weapon designers. This might be true, but it really seems to be self-advertising.

After all the same things were said before- by Alfred Nobel (dynamite) and Hiram Maxim (one of the better working designs of machine gun). All these inventions were supposed to make war impossible

Would a nuclear war end the world? I doubt it. It might make the "centers of civilisation" move into other areas- after all who would nuke Burkina Faso?

Japan has experience this type of weapon and they are up and running sure the countries that get dirrect hit aka US , Russia, China just to say some countries will be destroy but all the will be doing is giving other country the opportunity to become superpower.

WW III would never happen. There is not a country out there that could take on the U.S. head to head. Especially , with our Allies.
