It's white i.e. a polar bear.

The four sides of the house can only face south if the house was built exactly on the north pole. It is the only spot in the world where no matter which way you look, your facing south.
And since the only bears native to the north pole are polar bears, which are white to blend in with the snow, the answer is white.

steve can tie a huge helium balloon to himself or the gold, this will decrease the load on the bridge. Or he can tie a string around a bucket /bottle with the gold, lower it into the river/riverbed and drag it along on the water, it will weigh lesser. Or he can try taking off his clothes and visit the loo as well. or try loosing weight, like some boxers, by taking water tablets. or have a hair cut if his hair is long. or tie one bar to a kite and fly that over. or do it on a full moon day at high tide when things weigh lesser. or tie his gold to some rockets and fire it across. or look for a boat/raft to get across. or look for another bridge. or take some weight off the bridge. or strengthen the bridge to carry more weight. or check his weight again, the machine he used could have been faulty. or check out the calculations of the engineer, they may be faulty and he can carry 3 kg after all. or juggle the 3 bars making sure 2 are always in the air to be safe. or tie a long rope to the gold, cross the bridge and pull the gold across the bridge. or his pet circus parrot or falcon can carry one bar across for him. or take a risk and try crossing the bridge with the 3 kilos, the engineers always play it on the safer side. or send the gold by post and then go across. or sell the gold on this bank and buy gold from across the river.
