The Wetzel Plan?

Dan Wetzel describes a college playoff system in his Yahoo column this week, perhaps some of the playoff advocates can help me figure out some points of contention...

1. Statistics- do we differentiate regular season (to compare against past players) and playoff stats, continue taking stats in the current way but footnote everything in regards to the playoff system, or some other solution?

2. Losing Champion- Wetzels brackets have 7-5 Central Michigan matched up against #1 Mizzou, giving the top rated team a "near breeze" in round one. Suppose the Chippewas do the unthinkable and not only beat Mizzou, but win out and be champion at 11-5... is that really going to make people happy the BCS is gone?

3. Scheduling- when do the playoffs happen? Finals and Christmas kind of rule out a lengthy December playoff for students, so does college start running through Jan. and Feb. concurrent with the NFL playoffs, sharing airtime?

Update:

How do you get to be a top rated contributor with brilliance like:

1. I ignore the obvious problem of adding 3 games destroying all old records

2. LA LA LA, it won't happen

3. I ignore this problem because I like the plan- weeee, it can all happen during nap time, weeee

Update 2:

Yes, by asking people to explain how these obstacles are handled it is just like a Harry Potter chat room. You are right, talking about anything you have no control over is stupid- lets delete the Politics section ASAP.

Wetzel has proven once again he is a moron.

He tells people what he perceives they want to hear without thinking through the ramifications.

Once again though he takes shots at the Big 10.

    1. Keep the same stats for the entire season. That's the way it is with the bowl game.

    2. Just like in NCAA basketball, a bottom seed will NEVER win the title game, although they might get to the final four or even the title game itself.

    3. I like Wetzel's playoff plan.

Sorry but Wetzel is a fool. Plus, NCAA will not let all that money go away in the Bowl games. Every year is the same thing with College Football.

idk dude i think you'd have to have no clue what you were talking about in order to even think it worth asking a question about this. it's about a college football playoff. even if they did decide to have it, once deciding it wouldnt take effect for years. you've completely wasted everyones time by asking our opinions, because this wont happen for a long time if at all. you are just as bad as wetzel if not worse for trying to discuss fiction. this is like having a discussion board about the possibility of harry potter flying into someones bedroom window tonight at midnight
