Why does Microsoft still rip us off???

3 versions of win xp loaded on 1 desktop and 2 laptops in the last 4 years by the (oem) computor suppliers. None have ever worked properly, crashes and virus intrusions, through m.s. rushed programming. The software is very, very biased towards m.s. extras. I pay! I expect! I do not want to be turned off due to replacing a hard drive or upgrading my computors, with their inevitable "warning" we will shut you down if you do not pay four times, for the same item we sell as faulty from the outset, tough luck it was full of flaws when sold, but hey! smile, we have and are still making billions from mugs like you every year. Why can they get away with it? what is the answer?, except totally free linux?, which m.s. have shown an unhealthy interest in lately. The EEC recently fined them millions to no avail, for their crooked operations in Europe. Over here in the U.K. if they sold any other item the way they sell software they would be out of business. Why do they get away with it? tell me.

Update:

Hi Spook, if you bought a new car from a dealer, would you take it back to the manufacturer and have another engine 'factory fitted' ?. No!. I didn't think so, so why should I? Read the question first, before you answer so pompously, Millions of people by ready to run computors every year, with software readily installed, as I did.

Update 2:

Hello Carboniz, A.V.G. and Superantispyware from day one, with never a virus slipping past them. As for dodgey software? no such thing nowadays, they pick it up straight away. Think posotive and try again, many thanks, wisernow.

Personal Computers have a 30 year history. Regretfully, in 30 years the only OS that can be considered as mature is the Mac OSX.

It's probably a deliberate effort that Microsoft hasn't managed to produce a great OS yet.

That'll teach you to be cheap and buy OEM versions.

Buy the full version - no problems there.

To carry on with the car analogy - would you buy a car and ask the manufacturer to only put 3/4 of the engine in it?

That's what you're doing with OEM software, that's why it's cheaper.

Its not Microsoft ripping you off, its your retailer. OEM versions. With every new version, Microsoft is getting better and better and with their actual software, not yet operating system are getting nearer to Apple. I have used and taught in Microsoft since they marketed their very first version

Don't despair, they don't always get away with stuff like this. But mny times, like this with your computer they do get away with it unless you charge them. How else is the world and judge supposed to know something is wrong. So, if you're really pissed of sue them, if you can, and see what they've got to say!

Sounds to me like you are installing dodgy programs and not installing an anti virus.
