I can't get my cd's to rip on to my computer.?

Yeah, well I got a new laptop a few months ago. It is a Vista. And as soon as I got it I installed my iTunes and ripped a bunch of cd's. But now I have more cd's I want to rip but my computer won't do anything. I insert the cd in the tray and it doesn't do anything at all. It shows the little loading symbol but that's it. I can't even play them. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

Does the cd drive recognize any CDs at all? Have you tried putting in a data CD to see if it is recognized?

You could potentially have a bad CD drive. Being that the computer is new, you may have to bring it back to the retailer in which you purchased it from if it does not recognize any media in the drive.

Also, if possible, you may want to try to reseat the CD/DVD drive.

try putting a regular data cd in like some cd with with software on it. if that works, then you know the problem is a software problem. I would try using some other software like windows media player to rip or download one from the internet for free. If the data cd doesn't load up, theres probably something wrong with your cd-rom. Maybe you might have to replace it.
