The best intro song I have ever seen was "We Run This" by Missy Elliott, its a heavily sampled version of "Apache" by Sugar Hill Gang, the wedding party came out dancing to it and then they all broke into a routine when the bride and groom hit the dance floor, it was really great and got the entire crowd going for the night.
We are doing the NY Rangers goal song because we're fanatics. I see you are a Red Sox fan, do they have a song that they play every game? Our closing song is the Yankees staple "New York, NY" because we love them as well, we're a sports couple. My SIL and her husband used the Chicago Bulls opening song when the team is introduced. It can really be anything you want, the hyped up songs are the best, but like with the Rangers goal song and us, if people look at it and say "Now thats Sue and Joe" then thats what you should use.
Good luck!

We came in to the Kill Bill theme. Classic entrance music!
At my sister's wedding, we all came out to the Price is Right theme and the DJ announced us to "Come on Down!"
My best friend used the Soprano's Theme.
My sister-in-law did the "Another One Bites the Dust", and frankly I hate that choice. To me is says: "We lost another good soldier", in that another man has been forced into marriage. That's the feeling I get, anyway.
To each their own!

there is an instrumental by way of Alan Parsons venture called Sirius.....that's the intro topic for the Chicago Bulls, large beat! in case you have have been given a superb dj who has a large announcer voice, that is magnificent! Makes for a real thrilling start up for the reception.

Staying in the Sopranos theme, my husband and I used a song off of one of the soundtracks, it's a mix of the Peter Gunn Theme and Every Breath You Take - it was perfect, a little fun, a little romance....

We had the theme from "The Sopranos." I like the idea of TV or movie themes because they are familiar to most people, are good for a laugh, and a fun way to start the reception.

Yes, that's a very common song to use.
We had a traditional ethnic wedding, so we had a lively folksong playing when we came in to the reception.

We are walking into the theme from "Hockey Night in Canada" It sounds hokie, but it is our favorite thing to so on a Saturday night, and want it to be reflected!
