installing a Neutral safety switch - kia rio 02 automatic - need help!?
I have a picture of the part, and a generic diagram that shows it should go on the steering column, but it is a floor shift auto. It seems to me the safety switch would go near the gear shift lever if it is on the floor.
They said it would take 3 days to get the part in, and I want to be ready to install ASAP cause it's getting colder and I don't want to spend unnecessary time looking for it!
Also, is there anything else I need to know to install this part? I don't have access to a Chillens for it so I am great full for any help! Thanks!!!

The switch does go inside the steering column. There is a cable or linkage that connects the shifter to the piece in the steering column. That is what makes the steering and shifter lock in park when you take the key out. You will need a repair manual to do this. It is too hard to describe what you need to do on here. You can pick one up at an auto parts store. It will come in handy in the future for many other things.
