here's some really good old movies you can rent that i love as a kid and show my nephews and nieces. they are adventure type movies
one is
the explorers.
has a buch of stars you will recognize today-when they were young. its about 3 boys who buils a rocket ship because they keep having dreams about aliens who want to meet them.
last star fighter.
its a space movie but i looove this movie. nothing bad in it no cussing no real violence in the way of blood and it has lost of fun action. about a kid who plays this video game that turns out to be a way aliens starfighters get their piolts...you just gotta see it.
my fav would be this one
my science project. this is about a space ship type thing that was part of the whole rosewell thing and its found later by this kid trying to pass his highschool science class...highly recommended. the part he finds turns out to be a time machine type thing that makes things come in and out of the past and future into the present.
the whole highschool becomes a time warp..really cool
all these are late to mid 80's movies but they dont look dated. you'd be surprised. i know you can find them at just about most rental places. i'd also suggest
the monster squad. that is another must. about a group of young kids who form a group that fights off all the old monsters, frankenstien and werewolf man etc.

Beauty and the Beast (My personal favorite)
Cars
Chicken Little
Curious George (My kindergarten kids loved this movie)
Evan Almighty
Finding Nemo
High School Musical
Ice Age
Monsters, Inc.
Ratatouille
Shrek
The Fox and the Hound (Good movie about friendship)
The Incredibles
The Jungle Book
The Little Mermaid
Tuck Everlasting
You might consider renting these movies instead of buying them since they will only be down for a few days. High School Musical was the big thing last year and most of the children that came into Wal-Mart would be humming songs from this movie. Now Hannah Montana is the biggest thing. I watched Finding Nemo and the Ice Age movies in my computer class in high school (dealed with computer graphics) and everyone seemed to love these movies!!

Like some of the other obvious children of the 80's who have answered, I LOVE The Princess Bride and The Goonies and both are appropriate for 9-14 year olds (although Goonies has a couple of swear words in it and may be a tad frightening for some, but not traumatizing.) Other options are Annie, PeeWee's Big Adventure (cover their eyes during the "Large Marge" part, that did give me a couple of nightmares when I was 8) The Parent Trap (original if possible,) Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (original ONLY, not that Tim Burton c****fest) The Journey of Natty Gann, and The Sandlot. If you want something more current, High School Musical is actually kind of cute and so popular, it's unreal, and of course, Shrek (in all of its incarnations) is fun for everyone.
Kind of random, but my 3 favorite movies when I was that age(none of which are kid movies, per se, although none of them are really "grown up" movies either) were Grease 2 (yes, 2...hehe.) Mr. Mom, and Max Dugan Returns. Aww, now I'm all nostalgic! *sigh*

A great movie of triumph and friendship has to be "The Sandlot." It's awesome for boys because it has to do with baseball and all the main characters are boys...it's great for girls because...uh...hello...all the main characters are boys. It's a fun movie that I used to watch all the time with my cousins.
Some other flicks off the top of my head are Fly Away Home, The Parent Trap (newer or older), Big (with Tom Hanks), Hairspray (on dvd soon or already), Jungle 2 Jungle (Tim Allen...very funny, Man of the House (Johnathan Taylor Thomas & Chevy Chase), Nacho Libre, The Game Plan (The Rock), The Shaggy Dog (Tim Allen), Ice Age 1 & 2 ( Ray Romano voice talent), Shark Tale (animate with Will Smith), All the Scooby Doo cartoon movies are fun, and that's about all I've got.
I think showing them some older movies like Man of the House or Jungle to Jungle would be nice. I use to watch them all the time as a kid and your cousins have probably never seen them.
Check out the the source below too! Big list!
Good luck!

Finding Nemo, Madagascar, & The Polar Express (it's somewhat holiday, but not 2 awfully much), Cars, Charlotte's Web (the 1 with Dakota Fanning in it), Freaky Friday, The Parent Trap, Cheaper by the Dozen (1 & 2), Sky High, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion The Witch & The Wardrobe, Princess Diaries (1 & 2) only if it's NOT gonna be a bunch of boys!, The Pacifier, Because of Winn Dixie, Bridge to Terabithia.....there's lots, but those would be my top choices. ♥
