Buy Cemetery plots for parents Christmas Gift?
They never use the gifts I get them so I think this will be perfect. I'll take a picture of the plots and put it in a festive card.
My brother said he would get them a gift cerficate for a monument store and they can pick out their own head stone.

I think it a fantastic Idea! Oh do you know if they plan on being cremated or not? If so then you and your brother can be buried there to. See BONUS! I think you can have like 8 people to a plot. So maybe when there gone you can sell some sections to others as well! I bet you an get all your money back and then some!
Hell yeah now that's what I call real estate!

Sounds like a serious undertaking for such a grave gift. But you know what the say, the morgue the merrier. Perhaps write a short story in the card with the picture, or would that plot be too shallow?
Depending on how weak their hearts are, you may just want to bury this gift for a while.

I hope your kidding. If you're serious (and therefore a very practical gift-giver), then I'd say that maybe this is something you should discuss with your parents first before surprising them on Christmas with such a macabre gift. Just tell them that you want to get them something practical, and that your brother & yourself thought cemetary plots were a good idea. See if they're cool with it. It takes out the surprise factor, but it also doesn't have the potential of upseting your parents on Christmas morning.

Not something I will think off to get my parents for Christmas. Which is a festive time of the year. But I guess its OK, since it does cost a lot to buy.

If our kids gave us such a wonderful gift, Shelter, the Samaritans and Children in need would do very well when we died. The plots we would leave to the kids.

NO! That's a terrible gift whether its for Christmas or any other day. They could look at it as if you were saying, "Its ok for you to die now." Especially with your brother giving a gift in the same direction. Dont do it. It will ruin their holiday.

Kinda morbid for a Christmas present. Sweetest Day would be better for that.

Wow...ummmm, I guess it's thoughtful but won't that put a damper on the festivities???

i think it's a thoughtful and practical gift. i wish my kids were as thoughtful. all they keep talking about is what nursing home they're going to stick me in. i want a pink headstone.
