Did anyone else see Karl Rove trying to rewrite history of the Iraq war vote on the Charlie Rose show?

Rove was telling Charlie that the war resolution vote was held before the 2002 elections by Congress' choice.

Here's the video:

http://thinkprogress.org/2007/11/22/rove-lies-iraq...

In Sept. 2002 Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle (D-SD) asked Pres. Bush to delay the vote on the Iraq war.

"I asked directly if we could delay this so we could depoliticize it. I said, "Mr. President, I know this is urgent, but why the rush? Why do we have to do this now? He looked at Cheney and looked at me, and there was a half-smile on his face. And he said: 'We just have to do this now.'"

President Bush explicitly told Congress:

My answer to Congress is they need to debate this issue and consult with us, and get the issue done as quickly as possible. It's in our national interests that we do so, I don't imagine Saddam Hussein sitting around, saying, gosh, I think I'm going to wait for some resolution.

Update:

Sec. of Defense Donald Rumsfeld said:

"Delaying a vote in Congress would send the wrong message."

What do you think Rove is trying to accomplish when everything is recorded and can prove his claims to be hogwash?

The public having short memories is one thing but there is volumes of public records to prove his allegations false!

Update 2:

thegubmi: If you watch and read the link I have provided you you would also hear Rove say that the White House 'preferred' that Congress delay the vote to depoliticize it. He also claimed that the White House preferred to have more time for inspections which is pure fiction!

Why do you think he is named turd blossom. He is spreading the same old BS that he always has. He is as believable as any of the other "Brains" in this administration. His problem is that the Internet finds out his lies and exposes them. Only the weak minded 27% still believe Bush and his cronies.

Should we be surprised? Neoconservatives have a knack for rewriting history in order to justify their own delusional worldview.

The election outlook for '08 looks bleak overall for the GOP due to the continued occupation of Iraq so many Republicans are going to do some backpedalling and softening of their tone. Apparently, some also seem to be relying on the collective short-term memory of the sheeple (as well as a corporate media that tends to look the other way) in order to avoid the repercussions of their earlier stance. However, their lies eventually catch up to them, as this little snippet demonstrates.

Have you learned nothing from the past 8 years? Bush, Cheney,Rove and the rest of their ilk have always chosen to change the truth, facts, History, and Laws when it does not suit them....

Think they that the country's memory is as short as theirs is. unfortunately for them the rest of the country's brains are not as rattled as theirs are.

I really should have made a coke or alcohol joke there!!

Hey, this is what Rove does best.

If someone dumped a pile of sh*t on the White House lawn, how much you wanna bet that he'd try to convince the nation that it's a bed of roses?

He is trying to save his behind and that of Bushco. He knows that it was a huge mistake and want people to somehow think it won huge approval when it didn't. If you tell a big enough lie enough times people begin to believe it. That is what the Nazis believed and that is what those in this Administration believe too. Correlation? I'll leave that to the reader.

Well, what do you expect? Karl Rove is the King of Spin!

Yes! I couldn't believe my eyes! Neo-cons waited till Reagan left office to rewrite his history. Now, they are trying to do it virtually as events unfold.

    Karl Rove is not human.

He will go down in the history books as the person who almost ruined our country!!!!!!!!

Karl Rove has a very long career of deviant, dishonest behavior. I assume you know how he "got his start?"

    Google it, it's very funny.

Given the fact that it was a Democratic majority at that time and that they would have had to vote on a motion to consider the Act before anything could happen, I would have to say Rove is dead on the money. There may have been noise from the White House to try to spur things on, but it was Congress' decision to vote.
