ASUS P4C800E-Deluxe Motherboard---Can it be rebuilt?
I have a motherboard that has lightning damage. (Yeah, I know...I shouldn't have been using my PC during a storm) It's an ASUS P4C800E-Deluxe motherboard which is a quite popular motherboard and getting harder (and more expensive) to find. I've since replaced it with another but I'd like to get this one fixed and use it as a backup. Are there places that do this kind of repair, or is the MB just a paperweight now?

The answer to your question is yes, it CAN be done, but the real question is whether it is worth it. The repair cost will be more than a replacement mobo and you have so many possibilities for future problems it is probably best to just keep it in your closet for parts. It is also a socket that is no longer used, so you will be spending your money on old technology and not be able to upgrade it later. Definitely boat anchor material.
