What is your opinion on The Catholic Mass being spoken in Latin again?

This Latin mass is a newfangled machination of liberal whippersnappers. The Catholic Mass ought to be spoken in the original Sumerian.

As a child, I never understood the Mass when it was in Latin because I didn't study Latin or speak it. It didn't inspire me to have faith in Christ. It was like a magical incantation with the same power as "abracadabra."

I am glad that I was able to hear and understand the good news in my own language - English, like the first converts at Pentecost, so that I could be converted, saved, healed, and become one who spreads the Gospel in English to English speakers. I worship God in English because I frankly don't have a clue as to what "tantum ergo sancramentum" means, even though I can sing it. If your heart isn't in it (in other words - you fully understand it) it ISN'T worship. Worship requires heart, soul, mind & strength.

The lingua franca of the modern world is English. Seriously, who speaks Latin? Why try to resurrect a dead language when there is a viable alternative?

I have always celebrated the Tridentine Mass in English and in Latin. It was good when the Mass was always in Latin because the Christian faithful whenever they went to worship anywhere in the world could understand the Mass.

Mostly, I don't think it's a good idea, but it's OK if there is an extra mass in the line-up that's in Latin. I think that the Mass should be in the vernacular so people can understand what's going on and participate.

But, I feel the type of ' Catholics' which might be a anti-pope and anti Vatican II, who feel announcing the Mass in English is a capital offense, are too targeted at the externals, the variety, as a substitute of the substance, concerns of the center. The threat of that is we will be so targeted at the little matters that we overlook the extra main matters.  Jesus critisized the Pharisees for this very rationale.  He stated of them that they're like white washed tombs, all glossy and white at the external however within stuffed with lifeless mens bones.   Matthew 23:23,24 - "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites. I studied some Latin and don't mind at all. The beauty of Latin is that you could go from Malta to Chile and still understand it all.

why not? they have the english translation right next to latin readings, so everyone can follow along. the prayers are so beautiful, I cant wait.
