Out of pocket Expenses?

I don't have vision insurance but I need to get contacts so I scheduled an appointment for an eye exam to get contacts this Friday. Total out of pocket expenses for the eye exam and a year supply of contacts will cost me $275. Keep in mind I have astigmatism. Is this a reasonable price?

Update:

I believe the brand I once used is the soft lense type with toric, I'm thinking it's called Pro-clear or something like that. I've done some research on line and compared prices and it seems reasonable to me. I'm sure they have a mail in rebate along with it since I've had them before through insurance I just failed to fill it out.

Thank you for your responses.

Thats a good price. Most toric lenses start at 49.99 a box. I know of a few that are 39.99 a box. Figure thats either 399.92 or 319.92 for an annual supply. (not including exam) Make sure to ask about rebates. Most annual supplies come with some kind of mail in rebate. Also ask if they price match. I know my company does. Good luck to you!

Great, but do the math. 8 boxes is a year supply for a 2 week lens. If you get something in the $30 dollar range, you're looking at $240 for a year of lenses. That doesn't include the exam. I fail to see how that is cheaper.

Sounds steep to me- I would check Walmart's prices in toric contacts- the start around $30/box (disposables)
