What is the best cologne smell??

well you can go with the 'cliche' scents such as Acqua Di Gio by Armani, Polo Blue, Cool Water by Davidoff, Hugo by Boss, etc. these are popular but overused. Wings by Giorgio Beverly Hills is also a very good fresh scent and it is not expensive. there are so many types of scents for different age groups out there. i am 26 and some of my personal favorites include: Dolce & Gabbana (fresh and citrusy), Prada (flowery/soapy yet still masculine), Reaction by Kenneth Cole (fresh and fruity) and Vera Wang (unique sweet oriental scent). the teenage crowd prefers 'younger' scents such as the cliche ones and others like Le Male by Jean Paul Gaultier, etc. 20's to 30's crowd has the biggest variety of taste ranging from fresh to musky.

but if you just want fresh, Cool Water or ADG would be ideal.

D&G is on the mature side compared to those others.

if you want expensive flowery soap fresh, Prada is the way to go. Allure Sport by Chanel is high quality freshness but smells similar to ADG and costs about the same.

it sounds like you are buying this for you as much as you are for him so i recommend going to the store and smell-testing as well as asking the sales rep for advice. i just tossed a few ideas as well as personal favorites. good luck!

Aqua Di Gio by Georgio Armani is the best. It's the #1 selling cologne for the last 2 years. You can't go wrong with that. Also try Jean Paul Gutierre and Burberry (red bottle). If you want to stick with a classic try polo black.
