have you heard of the new law they want to pass?

I think that people should mind their own business and let others raise and discipline their children as they see fit. Society was going along just fine before people started sticking their noses where it doesn't belong.

I was spanked too and I turned out just fine. In fact, I didn't do half of the things that my friends who weren't spanked did growing up. Do you really think a child with no real judgment or consequential thinking is going to respect their parents authority when they know they only have to call child welfare and accuse them of abuse even if it's not true?

I got spanked/hit when I was young (even now) for discipline and I turned out fine as well. It's a bit too far to say any kind of spanking is considered child abuse.

Personally it's a sad fact that even if the law passes, people will still be doing it whether its spanking for discipline or just plain abuse.

After all, no one knows what's going on behind closed doors in homes.

yes they are i got many a spanking when i was younger. i turned out fine and haven't killed anyone yet. in my opinion thats whats wrong with the young people today. not enough discipline or they get threats and no follow through. if you get threaten enough with no consequences you learn you can do anything you want and who cares. i don't believe in abuse but there is a big difference between a spanking and abuse.

There was a report on the news about it last night they said they don't think it will pass. Even if it doesn't pass it will likely give other states ideas to try the same thing. At some point a state will pass it.

I hope they're planning to have a daycare center when you are in the urge to spank your rascal's butt because he/she is laying on a Supermarket floor screaming and demanding at you to buy a cereal box that the only good thing on it it's just a plastic made in china green cup!!!

I totally agree with you. There's a big difference between spanking and beating.

If it's by the parents i think its OK. It's up to them how they punish their children, as long as its not too abusive or anything. I know my dad used to hit me badly ALOT and i'm terrified of him now. But if only once or twice it's okay i think.

I don't believe in spanking, but I don't think we need a new law.

As I am over forty and pay for it, does that mean I will become an abused child?
